FAQ Dental Hygiene

FAQs

  • What are wrinkle relaxing injections?
Botox is a brand name and is often confused with the generic name of wrinkle relaxing injections. The active ingredient in wrinkle relaxing injections is Botulinum Toxin A. Botulinum Toxin A is a protein that is injected into muscle to relax it. The toxin temporarily inhibits the movement messages to the muscle so the muscle stays smooth and can't crease to create wrinkles. Full effect is reached in 2 weeks post treatment. An optional review appointment is available 10-14 days after treatment. This allows for adjustments to be made should you wish. Those who are new to wrinkle relaxing treatments find this process particularly reassuring, as it ensures results leave you looking fresh not frozen. In time, the muscles slowly start to be able to move again as the nerves reactivate and the results gradually wear off. Most people notice this happening 8-10 weeks after treatment. To avoid the body becoming resistant to the product another treatment is not advised until 3 months after your last treatment.
  • What are the risks?
Any non surgical aesthetic procedure carries risks. The injections can leave small red bumps or light bruises that can be easily concealed with make-up and disappear quickly. Other complications are rare and these will be explained to you at the time of your treatment. The fact that you are choosing Nick who is a talented, insured and experienced injector helps balance out any risks still further.
  • What is the treament process?
Nick carefully mixes up the product, which comes in a small vial of powder, with saline. Next he marks ups up the precise injection sites on you, taking into account the areas that are of particular concern to you. He then takes clinical photos. After this, Nick applies plenty of numbing cream and gives it plenty of time to work. Lastly injects the toxin solution using fine insulin syringes.
  • What aftercare should I follow?
The toxin solution takes time to set in place therefore: Do not lie down flat for a few hours after the treatment. Do not rub or touch the injection sites. Do not exercise for the rest of the day after treatment. Do not take a hot shower after treatment
  • How long do the effects last?
Full effect is reached in 2 weeks post treatment. At this stage, a free of charge adjustment appointment can be built in ensuring that treatments start gentle in effect for your added reassurance. In time, the muscles slowly start to be able to move again as the nerves reactivate and the results gradually wear off. Most people notice this happening 8-10 weeks after treatment. To avoid the body becoming resistant to the product another treatment is not advised until 3 months after your last treatment.
  • Facial aesthetics for men vs women
Nick has a trained aesthetic eye and has honed the different techniques required to expertly treat both men and women. He has a loyal patient base of both sexes. One thing that all Nick’s patients have in common is their trust in him to deliver ‘natural refinement’. The way in which this is achieved however differs between male and female clients. Men and women have anatomical variations Men generally have stronger facial musculature and metabolise the product in a different way to women. Therefore men normally require more toxin product than women. Men often have a higher or receded hairline requiring a modification of the injection sites. Understanding how treatments can masculinise or feminise the face Filler treatments in particular can be used to alter facial proportions and this has the ability to masculinise or feminise the face. Fuller lips and over enhanced cheekbones, for instance, can feminise the face.
  • Why choose Nick as your facial aesthetics practioner?
Insured Experience in the field Dental professional with: In-depth knowledge of facial anatomy, innervation and blood supply to the head and neck Excellent cross infection and medical emergency training Expert and safe injector (injecting daily) In-depth unhurried consult to understand you and your needs Focus on natural refinement and freshness of look
